A seasoned performer, inspirational teacher and exotic personality, Sharon Kihara is known the world over for her avante-garde sensibilities, as well as for her graceful and powerful technique. She comes from a strong background in western dance, beginning with Ballet as a wee tike and continuing to perform with University Modern and Jazz dance companies throughout the nineties. But her true love came in the form of Bellydance, first witnessed by Sharon as a child in it’s Cabaret form, then as Tribal Style in the mid nineties, and, as her mind had been blown beyond all hope for repair, she decided to pursue this art form with full enthusiasm.
Sharon joined the Bellydance Superstars in early 2004 and has been touring internationally full-time ever since. She has taught and performed in over 35 countries to date with many more on the horizon; has shared stages with acts such as Missy Elliot, the Black Eyed Peas and multiple Circus and Fire Arts troupes. She became part of Jillina's Bellydance Evolution in 2009 and has been touring with the company's productions for the past 5 years.

These pretty dances have been inspired by the natural world; florae, faunae, archetypes and elements alike. Creating a confluence of expression by employing contrasting, yet complimentary qualities of movement, we will enjoy executing some beautiful shapes and offer a little extra beauty to the world. Tentacular arm sequences, precise feet and gorgeous lines will be just the ticket.

Tribal Fusion Strengthening- Technical clinic.
Let’s get in there and clean our technique! This clinic is perfect for the Tribal Fusion dancer wishing to add to their skill set, or for any experienced dancer desiring more polish and refinement for their performances. Starting with a very warming drill session, we will work through the entire body top to toes, cleaning our lines and finding our balance in order to execute more advanced moves such as fast turns and spins, clean musical layers and accents, flutters and more. Includes traveling across the floor, mat work, and yoga.

Dissolving Into the Ma- An Animistic Approach to Dance as Medicine
If you allow it, this practice could change you. Sharon has blended two beloved physical and spiritual practices into a cohesive experience; drawing from her studies in yogic asana practice and philosophy, and from her extensive research and practice of Japanese Ankoku Butoh. This class is aimed at you. And also at the you that is more than you. Through grounded, physical meditation, exercises and “games”, we seek to access our deep unconscious and subconscious, using our personal past as well as universal experiences to come into greater contact with ourselves, as dancers and as humans.
