Kaeshi Chai is a world-fusion bellydancer and teacher trainer who co-founded the professional dance company and school, Bellyqueen, and also PURE (Public Urban Ritual Experiment), a global community of artists focused on healing and social change through dance and music. Kaeshi has performed and taught internationally, and is an alumni member of the Bellydance Superstars, and Jillina’s Bellydance Evolution. One of her all time joys is dancing to live music. She performed in Las Vegas with musicians like Bashir Abdel 'Aal (who played with Farid Al Atrash, Mohammed Abdul Wahab, Abdul Halim Hafiz) and with Natacha Atlas on her 2010 US tour. In 2007 she set up the weekly, ongoing Djam Under Jebon event for dancers and musicians to create and play together in a safe space. She teaches at the Bellyqueen School of Dance and Steps on Broadway. Her mission is to develop bellydance as a stage art and explore its powerful, healing properties. Kaeshi is thrilled to be teaching for the very first time in Zürich.
TRANS-DISCIPLINE DRILLS
This worskhop is designed to train bellydancers to become more versatile and have the tools to be able to flex between Oriental to Fusion, and have the skill set to create long, graceful lines for large stages as well as a varied stationary vocabulary for more intimate settings. It begins with a thorough warm up incorporating yoga stretches, ballet and pilates exercises, and progresses to layered shimmy and isolation drills, turns, traveling steps and improvisation. Please bring finger cymbals.
