As part of celebrating 10 years at ZeoT, I’m sharing a little behind-the-scenes look at who I am and who I was before ZeoT. My mission to bring art into belly dance and help women discover confidence through movement is the result of many different experiences. If I were a cake, I’d be a multi-tiered wedding cake, layered with sponge, cream, and icing, and stacked with stories. The ten years I’ve been running my business is only one slice of the cake—just one layer in the many tiers of my life. Some steps have been solid, others surprising, but each has led me to where I am today. So, here’s a little slice for you.

Celebrating 10 Years Since Taking Over the ZeoT ...

2025 marks a major milestone for me and our dance studio: 10 years of movement, joy, and connection! When I took over the studio a decade ago, it was already a thriving space for dancers. My vision was to honour its success while bringing a fresh perspective—infusing more art, strengthening the sense of community, and expanding our offerings. The journey has been transformative in ways I could never have imagined.

Throughout this year, I want to take you behind the scenes of our 10-year story. We’ll reflect on where it all began, celebrate the incredible community we’ve built, and share some fun surprises along the way.

To celebrate the new photographic exhibition at ZeoT, we’ll be hosting a Vernissage with a free wine and food degustation. SOMMER WORKSHOPS & NEUE AUSSTELLUNG IM ZEOT ZÜRICH

Wir laden Dich herzlich dazu ein, im August an unserer Sommer-Workshopwoche teilzunehmen. Probiere Schleierfächertanz, American Tribal Style oder lerne eine Choreographie zu Madonnas "Frozen"!

Der reguläre Unterricht pausiert in dieser Woche und startet am 26. August in die 5. Kursperiode, welche sich der Kunst des Raqs Sharqi und des klassischen orientalischen Tanzes widmen wird.

Weitere Höhepunkte sind die Workshop Reihe mit Rachida Aharrat und Salima, welche Flamenco, orientalischen und zeitgenössischen Tanz kombinieren. Mehr klassischer Tanz ist auf den atemberaubenden Fotos von Marine du Sordet zu sehen - unserer neuen Ausstellung ab Ende September.

Wenn Du Dich für unsere Lehrerin Weiterbildung interessierst, solltest Du Dich jetzt bewerben. Für den Kursbeginn im September 2019 haben wir nur noch 3 Plätze übrig.

Join us in August for our summer workshop week and try your hand at veil fan dance, American Tribal Style or learn a choreography to Madonna’s “Frozen”!

Regular classes take a break during the summer workshop week until the 26.08. when we'll begin course period 5 studying the art of Raqs Sharqi or classical oriental dance.

Other upcoming highlights include the fusion workshop series with Rachida Aharrat and Salima combining flamenco, oriental and contemporary dance. More classical dance can be seen in the stunning photographs of Marine du Sordet, our new exhibition from the end of September.

If you’re interested in our teacher training programme make sure to apply soon. We only have 3 places left for the course starting this year in September 2019.

MARINE DU SORDET - PASSIO

"Passio" is a Latin term commonly used to refer to passion and intense love but originally to designate suffering. As French photographer Marine du Sordet progressed on her project dedicated to dancers, it became clear to her that most of them, driven by an unconditional love of their art, did not hide the part of suffering - both physical and psychological - inherent to its practice.

Her work intends to reveal this duality between appearance and reality. Her exhibition will be at ZeoT Zürich from September 28 to December 21, 2019.

With her focus on the body and the visualization of movement, Manuela Benz's prints have found a perfect temporary home in her exhibition at ZeoT Zürich which runs until September 2019. In the following images you can follow the process of creation and development of Manuela’s latest work. Working from photographs taken during a dance session with ALIA, Manuela has created a new series of prints.

TROMMEL SOLO, ZÜRICH TANZT FESTIVAL & ZEOT SHOWCASE

Eine Performance zu einem Trommel Solo zu beobachten, kann ziemlich hypnotisierend sein! Die Tänzerin imitiert und verfolgt die Musik so genau, dass sie mit dem Beat fast eins wird. Pops, Locks und Shimmies spiegeln den Rhythmus wider und die Tänzerin muss ihre Technik gut beherrschen, um Bewegungen gezielt durchzuführen - das kann energisch und auch verspielt wirken. Mache mit in unserer KP3, wo wir uns auf das Thema Trommel Solo konzentrieren werden!

Wir freuen uns auch wieder darüber, dass das ZeoT Zürich einer der Orte für das Zürcher Tanzt-Festival ist. Neben den Crashkursen veranstalten wir am Samstag, den 4. Mai, eine Hafla mit Auftritten im ZeoT Zürich und wir tanzen auch in "So tanzt die Welt" am Zürcher Hauptbahnhof.  Lies unseren Newsletter für weitere Informationen und informiere dich über die Workshops und Veranstaltungen, die wir für die nächsten Monate geplant haben.
